2025 is coming to an end…

2025 is coming to an end, and what a year we have had! The clinic was able to donate to some of our local organizations. These include The Rotary Club of Cobourg, The Help and Legal Centre, Habitat for Humanity, Rebound Child and Youth Services and The Northumberland Fair Share Food Bank. Take a look at our community bulletin board next time you’re in the office. We hope to continue giving back to our community for years to come.

First, enjoy a Chiropractic Christmas poem from Dr. Hubbel, then see our staff’s 2025 highlights on the second page.

T’was the day before Christmas but there was no cheer. No jingle bells jingled, no sound of reindeer. The word had gotten out that Santa was sick. There’d be no friendly visit from jolly St. Nick. The people were sad; no gaiety sounded. For Christmas had come, but Santa was grounded. He limped down the street wondering what should he do? When the sign said D.C., it was too good to be true. Now Santa was not one to like a new tactic, but all else had failed: So he’d try Chiropractic. He entered the clinic and saw at a glance, in a place such as this, illness hasn’t a chance. The people were smiling, the music was snappy. With all of the patients contented and happy. In a very short time, to judge by the clock, he was in the adjustment room talking to “Doc”. “Oh, Doc take a look at the size of this pack! Have you any idea what it does to my back? ”Poor Santa was miserable, just barely able, with the help of the doctor, to get onto the table. The doctor was gentle, without fuss or tussle. She examined the vertebrae and relaxed every muscle. She spotted the trouble and then with a click, she started aligning the spine of St. Nick. In no time at all, he felt no aches or pains. He picked up his pack and grabbed the reins. The air was a’tingle with new fallen snow, and healthy Kris Kringle was rarin’ to go.

(Editor’s note: If your Santa needs help, please tell him where to go!)

Happy Holidays from all of us at Hubbel & Johnston Chiropractic!

2025 Highlights

A few clinic updates- you may have noticed our staff is working in different spots throughout the office. We are in the process of cross-training everyone. You may see Julie and Louise running in the rooms assisting the doctors and Carolyn and Carleigh covering the front desk. Everyone is doing great and learning lots!

This year we are again collecting money for the Giving Tree. We have chosen 4 children, as we heard many children were left on the tree last year. Our children include 5 and 12 year old boys and 7 and 12 year old girls. Our staff always has a great time shopping and gathering things for these children. Thank you very much for all your support and donations for this initiative.

Holiday closures this year are a little longer again- the clinic will be closed from Thursday December 25, 2025, reopening Monday January 5, 2026. We are excited for our team to enjoy a well earned break.

Dr. Johnston will be available for emergency care on and off over the break. Dr. Leguard and Dr. Hubbel will be enjoying a vacation to Portugal with their family over the break and will return to patient care on January 5th.

Our 2025 highlights include:

Julie’s highlight was the surprise 60th birthday party her boyfriend Ron threw her with her friends and family, and the gift to fly her out to see her sister in Calgary.

Carleigh’s favouriite part of 2025 was her trip with her husband, Norm, to the Azores. She rung in her 40th birthday with an annual road hockey game with her family and friends.

Carolyn’s trip to Mexico for a friend’s 70th birthday was her highlight. She enjoyed another great year at HJC welcoming many new patients. She loves seeing the new babies come through the clinic and watching them grow!

Louise had a great year being semi retired and doing more travelling with her husband. She loves being part of an amazing team, doing so much good work for our community.

Karen says some things change, while others stay the same as all docs prepare for 2026. This will be a fun year!

Debra’s family is healthy and enjoying their careers and personal lives. They have had big excitement preparing for her daughter, Ainsley and fiancé Issac’s 2026 summer wedding.

Myranda has big plans ahead of her. Sadly we had to say our goodbyes to Myranda near the beginning of November. She is moving up north to be reunited with her mom and extended family. We wish Myranda the best of luck and hope to see her pop into the clinic from time to time.

Dr. Johnston’s highlight was her 2 week vacation to Florida and Myrtle Beach in October. Her family enjoyed a week at Disney World and then a family wedding of her cousin’s in Myrtle Beach.

Dr. Leguard’s favourite part of the year was her family trip to Hawaii, trip to Newfoundland with her partner, Nathan, and helping to prepare for her sister’s wedding next year. She has enjoyed another year of practicing with grandpa.

Dr. Hubbel celebrated 65 years in Chiropractic practice back in March 2025. We are very excited to see what 2026 brings for Dr. H!
